Rumor is that Silva wants to fight Roy Jones Jr? Or someone in the same weight class?

My friend says He (Jones Jr.) may be a great striker, but even in his advanced age, he may still be able to beat Silva. And that being a great MMA striker is not the same as being a great boxing striker. Jones is old, but to say Silva would destroy him is ridiculous. No matter how good he is in the octagon, he cannot make up for the experience that Jones has in the boxing ring. Jones is still unbelievably fast for his age, and yes, he is way faster than Silva. I would still favor Jones in that one.

I say I think Silva's boxing is precise and so pin point accurate. I think he would knock out Jones. Yes. Its not the same and the environment is a different feel with the gloves and ring but Silva has all the great and neccessary tools.
Plus Jones is washed up, experienced or not. I heard He was terrible in his last match.
With proper training time and a good team, Silva would eat him up. He could easily transition over.
Silva would hit him square on the nose and send him to sleep.

    What does The Cage think????

MMA boxing is different than pure boxing, so I find it hard to believe he would be able to do very well

there is a reason it is called the sweet science. everytime i box spar i get lit the fuck up. No matter how good Silva is at what he does, it does not mean it will translate to an elite level in another aspect, or even one of them.

pure boxing in the octagon w/ mma gloves = toss up w/ slight edge to RJJ
pure boxing in the ring w/ boxing gloves = Roy via pure domination

That's kind of a silly question. It's like asking who would win in an oval track race: A NASCAR driver or a NHRA champion?

A boxer who does nothing but train in boxing is going to be better in boxing than an MMA fighter who uses punches as one weapon in a whole arsenal.

i feel like silva's punching is solid but its a huge advantage when a fighter has to look for knees and kicks and elbows..

+ 4oz gloves compared to boxing gloves.. roy with 4oz gloves is not funny

:werd: brologna. Under UFC rules, Jones would be toast.

But he'd hand Silva his own ass in a boxing match.

no not saying anything bout mma rules.. im just saying that the threat of that makes silva look ridiculous.. + 4oz gloves..

if roy and silva both wore 4oz gloves and boxed.. roy's power would look like superhuman

But if Silva were to train and get with a good team and focus strictly on Boxing, doesn't The Cage think he could stand a chance??
....especially against an aging Boxer such as Roy Jones Jr.

Wasn't there something about Roy Jones not wanting to knock people out anymore after what happened to that one boxer firned of his who had major brain damage but is still alive? He just wants to win on points now and not injure anyone.

I don't know if someone mentioned it already, but I think Silva boxed 2 times in brazil. First time, got KTFO and won the second. Retired from the ring after that.
