I ran for the first time in a long time and brought my Glock 19 in a Smart Carry...wasn't as bad as I thought. Was pretty loaded down with a spare 15 round mag, OC keychain spray, car keys, Blackberry, and ID's.

Looking for suggestions on equipment, experiences, etc.

I eventually gave up. Doing 10+ miles with a bunch of crap on you is a real pain in the ass.

Right now I'm just doing short runs, building up to a 5K (never ran before). I think as I run farther and farther I'm going to need to get a Camelbak like someone else mentioned, one that you can hide a pistol in.

I run at night usually in the park. Want to start OCing when I do it.

I have a small Camelbak that I use sometimes. For shorter runs its fine, but its 3L and when it's full it's not fun, and when it's half full, the water sloshes around too much. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if you got one with a liter reservoir.

Just clip a pocket knife to your waist band and pay attention to your surroundings?

I OC at night when I run, a decent belt and holster make it not an issue.

Get a 642/442/340PD. The thing weighs less than a pound and if you have a good holster you won't even realize you're carrying it. Mine disappears when I'm wearing it, I don't even notice it's there after 5 minutes. Big difference from carrying my XD9SC which weighed 2lbs+ loaded and felt like a brick.

I cant carry anyways, but I can't imagine doing a decent run with a gun and a bunch of other shit. I usually carry a folding knife clipped to my waistband and that's it.

None of my running pants have pockets. I have no idea how you carry all that shit without a backpack and still run.

Personally, I'd lose the IDs, OC spray, gun, extra mag, phone and if possible, keys.

Light in my left hand. 228 in holster with an extra mag in a pouch. ID slips in the holster snugly.

    That's all I need.

That doesnt even make sense, for me when I'm running is the only time I wish I could carry a gun.

Take it you dont run much or very far, having something on your hip, ankle, pocket when running for an extended period of time will fuck up your gait and prob cause injuries.

Prob safest bet would be to chest carry a small keltec

Do NOT run with a camelbak.

Find a spicket along the way for hydration.

Run with as little weight on you as possible.

Even though you dont think it matters now, constantly concentrate on running posture.

If you think you need to jog with your concealed weapon, get a fucking life or move out of harlem.

My reference? 4 years of cross country and being taught by a coach who took state in both track and field and cross country for my HighSchool then was on the FSU team when they wont the track and field championship. An olympic level athlete.

Every time you see an officer or fireman training with ankle weights please point and laugh at them only fucking up their body and ability to run well. Even running with weight vests should be a minor exercise in your training regiment meant for sprints, not long distance. If you need more of a long distance work out, run for a longer distance or get a chute.

I only carry when I go for walks.

When I go for jogs I don't because it's a pain in the ass. The only thing I carry is my phone in case I trip or something and fall into a ditch with a broken leg.

Unless he was on the National team and went to world cups, he wasn't an Olympic level athlete.

If you have to carry while running, a fanny pack is probably the most comfortable way.

:werd: I cannot comfortably run with my gun and I do not want to carry one of those faggy fanny packs. I carry a Benchmade Infidel clipped to my side, it's better than nothing.

When I walk my dogs, I do OC. Not due to people, but due to the fact there are some negros around with mike vick syndrome. One of their pits got lose a couple of months back and trapped a sheriff's deputy and my other neighbor in the cop's truck. The cop didn't want to shoot the dog and waited for AC to come get it. Later he went to the owner's house and told them next time he'd shoot it.
My dog is a large GSD so people aren't a big issue.
