this is the only picture I have of it. springfield armory GI. But I've since changed the beaver tail safety, backstrap, grips, and trigger.
I haven't heard much about them, but Taurus's 1911 looks like it has a lot of nice features for a good price.

I own 2, one is a colt 1918 built for the US navy and one is a RIA, here is the RIA with the work I've done to it, I just cut and pasted this from some other thread.

Side view, you can clearly see the new beavertail grip safety (no fitting need for proper functioning), commander style hammer, competition match trigger (I love being able to reduce trigger travel, it now only pulls enough to reliably trip the sear an no further), the tactical thumb safety (not hard at all to fit and much more positive feeling to the safety) as well as the extended slide release (mainly for the woman, her smaller hands couldn't quite work the release, though I must admit it is nice. I had to file the top of the stock grips slightly to get the clearance for it, but you can't see any damage to the oil finish)

Shot two is just a rear look at commander hammer and new beavertail

Just a shot of slide and barrel, I polished the barrel when the stock finish started wearing off the barrel. one other mod you can't see is I got a trigger track stone and some files and smoothed track for the trigger, so now it pull a bit smoother.

Finally the stock parts, since you can't all the work done. Disconnector, Sear, Mainspring, Sear Spring, hammer assembly (damn pin is welded to connect the hammer and hammer strut.), slide release, grip safety and thumb safety.

I've probably spent at least 2/3's of the purchase price on upgrades for this gun, I guess there is no such thing as a cheap 1911 :mamoru:

Tdizzle- how does your Taurus run? Reliability?

AB13- how does the EMP run? Those are cute little guns

    Thanks for the great thread.

I have one and you don't ask me :hs:.

Runs 100% as accurate as I need it to be and has all the fancy features. It's not a custom fitted gun but for 450 basically who cares.

Yea, it broke on me like the first week I had it. Replaced it with that one, and its been running great ever since.

Aside from the safety issue, its great, I love the damn thing. Accurate as hell too, damn nail driver at 25 yards. I practice with winchester .45 target ammo and my SD rounds that I use are winchester sxt's, never had a failure to fire or feed with either.

WAyt! i thought it was retail like... 1000 or something stupid... Did you get a deal or something?

In my limited experience, fitted = too tight to function reliably.
