I'm gathering parts for a new build and this time around I want some really quite fans
ive been pretty happy with the zalman ones in my computers
I use the Antec Tri-cool fans.
The 120mm ones are efficient enough that I can run them on low.
And at low, you can barely hear them.
i don't think they make panaflow any more, which were quiet, but you can still get them.
i like nexus fans even though they are brushless.
has good reviews.
I bought Noctua fans in my latest rig. I did a lot of research and found they had the best cmf/db ratio for my needs. I think they're like 50cmf at ~20db. I'd recommend them. Just don't fall for SilenX's 70cmf fans @ 20db. They're just flat out lying.
I use SilenX.
Have you had any problems with them lasting? I've replaced 2 of them in the last month that have just stopped spinning and were just over a year old.
I'm switching them out with Scythe Slip Stream Kaze Jyuni 120MM Fan 1200RPM 68.5CFM 24DBA. Seems like a good balance of performance and noise.
Gotta go with them as well.
Also, if you want more opinions, go to http://www.silentpcreview.com/ and read all the latest articles about all the quiet fans (including other quiet components).
I'll grant that you don't really get 70CFM @ 20dB with SilenX fans, but presumably if you're going with a really quiet setup, you've planned ahead and you don't NEED 70CFM per fan.
