Guy can't draw realism to save his life. It's like every character is in a pose. There is no relaxtion in his pics,

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the Spawn legacy; But in my personal opinion, there are much better artists that have contributed to the fundamental pencil/inking/cover conceptions of Spawn such as:
    Ashley Wood and Greg Capullo..

Damn. I knew Jim Lee would be mentioned in this thread though aren't the examples posted of his work covers or splash pages? In that sense, it's kind of acceptable that the characters are in some type of pose.

Just to make sure we are on the same page here... two things.

One has been pointed out but I want to make sure its restated.
Your examples are of cover work. Yeah, kinda supposed to look like that.

and two... you are talking about people that run around larger than life in fictional settings. Its not like Sam and Twitch or beat cops... they are super heroes... they arent supposed to accentuate realism. They are supposed to be over the edge on exaggerated movement...

And for the record, yes... Im a Jim Lee whore.
I never really liked Jae Lee's style though.

One of the reasons that WildCATs was my favorite book...

    It was tidbits like that...

Actually your comment for Campbell could be applied to Madueria. Dude hasn't put out anything in forever.

I vote for Michael Turner given the reasons stated for Jim Lee's nomination, because in this case, they actually apply and they're some damn good criterion.

p.s. Sorry Dev. But to be fair, you like him for his strengths, so that's noble enough.

STEPHEN PLATT! I remember when he was supposed to be the hotttest thing out there. I even got Moon Knight #1 as a gift for someone because he drew the issue.

    ....Whatever happened to him?

No, I knew someone would be hating on him.

I'm just going to repress the hate.

Also, I could reply similar to what Kaz said, but I don't feel like going and finding an example to defend him. :mamoru:

Frank Miller is an overrated artist? Do people even consider him as an artist? I thought he was just a decent storyboarder...

I think frank millers work is appropriate for what he does, and yeah not many people really think of him as a 'drawing' artist its kinda just something that tags along to his stories. :bigthumb:

I'd also go with Miller, as well as Greg Land.
