Just wondering if you keep one chambered? And if you do, where do you keep it? I'm considering keeping mine in my bedroom but I'm still unsure if I want to keep one chambered. I'm mainly just paranoid because it's more difficult to keep a rifle out of sight.

It's a modern day weapon it's not going to go off unless you pull the trigger, you think you're gonna have time to rack that puppy when some rather large woman breaks down your bedroom door and looks at you like the buffet table at Sizzla?

No rifle hear anymore, used to have one bedside, but it wasn't the right rifle for the job (just what I had) I've switched to a shotgun w/ 00 buck and my carry gun.

Why do you need to keep a rifle out of sight in YOUR bedroom? Do you do most of your entertaining in the bedroom or is there another person around who doesn't like the sight of an AK leaning against the bed?

my carry gun is on the night table and my shotgun is clearly visible in the closet.

I have one a few feet from my bed. Magazine is in, safety off but no round in the chamber. The Glock goes on my nightstand when I get into bed.

When I feel more comfortable with the AR, it will be replacing the 870 for me. More range time/practice/training before that though.

To play devil's advocate, if you're doing a good job at securing your home, you should know whats going on well before someone is at your bedroom door :big grin:

My preference is shotgun + 00 buck

The AR round has a chance of leaving my bedroom wall and traveling into my next-door neighbors house and hitting little Sally Sue in the head, which would be less than ideal in my opinion.

i guess i'll chime in. my AR15 has a bullet button so fast mag drops aren't really practical.

i have my 870 loaded with 00 buck, hammer down, safety on, chamber empty and my sig p226 mag in, chamber empty with 147gr JHP

i really need to get some slugs and gold dots :hs:

i keep my hakim loaded by my bed....just kidding, 8mm mauser is too powerful for home defense and the rifle is 4ft long. sometimes i bring in my carry pistol (i usually leave it in the truck). i want to pick up a cz-82 for home defense.

Used to keep the 870 under the bed on my side, mag loaded, safety on, chamber empty.

Now I put the 870 away but keep my Glock 22 on the nightstand, mag in, one in the pipe, but in the factory hard case. Also keep a small flashlight on the nightstand.

Springfield XD-9 unchambered stays in my nightstand, along with a flashlight. As the guys have already said, a large caliber long gun runs a serious risk of over-penetration and is rather unwieldy to use in confined spaces.

    Yep, on my hip.

If not on my hip then on the coffee table or nightstand, depending where I am.

I'd rather have the penis gun from Dusk til Dawn.
