How long do you jump rope for? Explain your routine. How good is jump roping versus running or swimming (personally)? I just started roping for cardio before lifting and it burns like a mutha. I did 1000 yesterday before lifting and I felt dead.

Yeah, I'm really out of shape and my first day of roping so I thought 1000 would be a good target. It took like 13 minutes lol.

    i do.
    7am 5k run
    8am lift
    work/class all day
4pm i do sets of stairs, jump rope, sprints, and then run about half a mile, do calisthenics (push ups, pull ups, dips, crunches etc). Repeat 4 times... then run another 5k

the jumping rope builds my calves real nice and i do it mainly just to cross train and mix up my workout. i wouldnt recommend using it as your only source of cardio though

I try to keep a steady pace... 50 jumps, 20 seconds rest, 50 jumps, 20 seconds rest, etc. I haven't gotten into the hang of it just because it's so boring. I'd rather do elliptical at the gym because at least then i can just zone out on all the TV's they have.

Nice, I tried 100 jumps, rest for 30 seconds, 100 jumps, rest for 30 seconds, repeat. I don't think I'll use it as my only cardio because it does get boring but it feels like it burns calories fast.

I do. I jump till I miss then I rotate 90 for different scenery and repeat about 5 times. I end up jumping for about 15-20 usually. Lately it sucks, it's still sunny out and about 110 when I start. :(

3 min rounds / 1 min rest and switch up the skipping method so it will look like this.

    1 min. two foot skips
    30 sec. alternating feet
30 sec. side to side jumps
    1 min. boxer skips

Fuck around with it. When you start getting better you can throw in some double swings, alternate swings, sprints, everthing. Funner than running.
