Powerbook G4 1.5ghz with 1 gb of ram...
I use it as my primary computer along with another monitor.
Pretty much, although I usually end up rebooting for a system update before my uptime gets really high.
have you guys ever noticed that macs seem to run better if you just leave them on rather than sleeping them.
my imac gets kind of funky and slow if i sleep it when i am away.
however i just went away for memorial day weekend and left it seeding a torrent all weekend and it was extremely fast and responsive when i got back.
i only shutdown/restart for updates...
so that's my schedule...
what widget is that?
im not saying a reboot.
just leaving it running seems to make it stay more quick then sleeping it.
iStat or iStat Pro
out on this. i put mine to sleep whenever i'm done using it.
my server in my closet is a different story. if i hadn't taken it down to add some hard drives a few weeks ago, it would have been running strong for about 3 months
i remember my cisco teacher once telling us story about how they were doing a security audit in an office. they were inventorying all the servers, but they couldn't find one. turns out it was in the basement boiler room, hidden behind a shelf. it was just a box with a powercord and ethernet, running os/2 warp. it had never been rebooted in over 5 years.
he put it to death after backing up all the data. when he opened it, the entire inside was covered with an inch of dust
I turn mine off everynight
