The heavies have huge powerful punches. but the lightweight guys are all speed, and seldom slow down.

i tend to prefer watching lightweights, I'm a small guy myself, and they seem to be a little more technical.

just look at the TUF 2 fights for example.. which fights have been better? heavy or welter weights?

we've seen like three or four good fights from the welterweights, and none from heavyweights.

thats why i dont understand why there isnt more of a focus on the smaller weightclasses in mma. everyone seems preoccupied by LHW and HW

I agree, but when you have a heavyweight that moves like a middle weight, then it is pretty exciting to watch (arlovski or crocop)

The guy I hated watching the most was Dan Christison from TUF 2. He looked like his cardio blew, his flexibility blew, his speed blew, his technique blew, and basically had nothing to offer. I personally think heavies that are like him depend completely on their physical advantage, be it reach or weight and just overwhelm their opponents.

welters for me...for one, i'm more of their size and they seem so much more versatile

also MW and LHW are always fun because they're the best of both worlds

i think americans probably like watching huge brutes pounding on each other rather than seeing finesse fighters

I like watching the smaller guys more. When the bigger guys fight they're often too afraid of each other.

I love watching LW's fight but if I would watch a Fedor or a Crocrop fight over most LW fights.

yeah top level heavyweights are the most exciting, but anything else is usually boring.

I love watching little guys get at it tho. all piss and vinegar, skinny guys fight till they're burger...

I like watching the lighter fighters fight a lot more. Usually a lot more action.

Heros LW/MW GP and the Bushido GP ftw

the smaller guys have the ko power, crazy subs, more action, and cardio to spare.

the tuf2 show has been dismal for both but in general I like to watch bigger guys. Light heavy and Heavy are my favorites. Say what you will about action...I get more exited when I know that either fighter has the potential to finish at anytime. Some of the heavies in the ufc aren't worth watching but I will definately watch a nog/fedor/mirko/etc fight over the smaller guys.

    :dunno:

the little guys in here like watching the little guys, and they do have a point....the fights are higher energy

i appreciate the fact that when I am watching a guy like fedor fight I am watching the best fighter in the world at any weight class.

and that's the bottom line for most of the world...i think the LW division is stacked right now...so is the LHW and HW...the middleweights aren't that appealing right now

i prefer to watch the lightweights or welterweights. the fights are better, and they just go at it.

I see, you aren't watching the best p4p, you are watching the best period.

Pride's HW fights tend to be really good... UFC, eh, not so much. And it wouldn't be so bad if the UFC had not dropped the LW's

Heavyweights are best when they around 230lbs

    Nog, Fedor, Cro Cop

Then of course you have really athletic big 250lb guys such as arvloski and alexander but they are 6'5 so it's kind of allowed

It's the Tim Sylvia that i really despise, big guys with big reach. If he was consistently fighting 6'8 guys then i wouldn't mind him. He's actually fought mcgee and simms but both of those guys completely suck balls.

I'd actually like to see him fight Dan Christianson, that would be a good matchup for someone like Tim.

yeah that would be a joke. Tim isn't an A level fighter. He is a gatekeeper like goodridge was for a while.

true Tim was the heavyweight champ, but I think the quality of fighters he faced wasn't that good.
