Im leaving in 2.5 months and need to switch to a more national bank from my 3 location local credit union.

the 4 I have researched/narrowed it down to are: (any real Pro's or Con's to any of them for military members)

    Bank of America
    Suntrust
    Wachovia
    Washington Mutual

    should I include any others?

I get my orders on Wed, so I supposed I could also contact USAA, but im not sure how dealing with a bank with out any physical locations works out.

I'm switching from Bank of America to USAA.

When you're deployed, it doesn't really matter if your bank has any brick and mortar locations or not. But it does help to have a bank that specializes in distance banking, and that is really good at it.

Are you saying USAA specializes in distance banking? well im sure any banking with them is distance banking when you dont have any physical locations.

Yes. I don't believe USAA has a "physical" banking location.

    I use Navy Federal.

USAA is probably the best. Pentagon Federal credit union is also good.

With USAA you can long in online and all of your accounts with there balances will pop up and you can pay all your bills right there. It's pretty cool

    LOL...^^ GGAGAGA

USAA you can drop you checks in a special envelop that they give you and they will mail it free.. 2-3 business days the check or money hits the mail..

they also credit you account for ATM fees up to 10 times or 10 bucks. You cal also take out money for free from cash back at a store.

Banking online is awsome! you can have all of your bills paid automaticly. they also have a rewards program

They also have great rates for Auto loans or Car insurance but we happen to be cheaper with Geico with insurance.

USAA has a location in San Antonio. They by far are the best bank for military because they now cater only to military. Rewards are awesome, insurance is cheap and Customer service is the best in the industry. I have everything through USAA that they offer. credit cards, checking , savings, IRA, loans, auto insurance

I use USAA for insurance but still use Washington Mutual since I've been with them for the last 14 or so years.

I agree - if you want a physical branch office. In my area, BofA has a small branch office in almost every Harris Teeter grocery store. The branches in those stores also have extended hours.

But if you don't need to see a teller, my money is on USAA.
