How bad are these? I don't mean together. I've just noticed that I either eat white rice or make mashed potatoes with my main meal. I'm eating small portions but want to make sure I'm not doing something stupid. I've tried brown rice and can't fucking stand it.

Less fiber, possibly less nutrients. Other than that, who cares? If it fits into your macros, big deal.

I don't eat white rice..or potatoes. Not regularly at least. I do eat "good healthy food". My staples are oatmeal, PB, whey, chicken, 97% lean hamburger, veggies and fruit, and barilla pasta. I haven't even been eating sugar-free icecream lately, just going with more fruit.

I just think the uber-clean movement isn't necessarily the best thing ever, and I didn't get that from Lyle. The leanest I've ever been was racing, and I ate loads of "bad" foods- poptarts, smarties, gummi bears, etc etc. I just burned it all off. They don't make you fat by default.

True; I'm flexible, I get anywhere from 93 to 97 depending on which store I'm at that week.

Just to clarify, the concensus is that potatoes and rice are very bad?

Sorry, I don't know what are good carbs or bad.

Potatoes and rice will not make you fat.

Polished white rice lacks the hull of brown rice, so it is therefore less "healthy" because it lacks fiber/nutrients that are in brown rice.

Potatoes and rice are both starchy carbs; whether they are good or bad for you depends on your goals and how you react to them.

Well, my goal at the moment is losing fat, down 40 lbs so far :x:. I'm going to start adding weights in so I don't turn into a stick.
