I always get these white marks on a couple of my nails. I read around and found that the causes are usually injury to the base of the nail or a zinc deficiency. I've been taking a multi w/15mg of zinc (100% recommened daily value) for at least a year, so I don't think zinc is a problem. I'm guessing lifting might be causing this. Do any other of you lifters get these white marks too?

I have them... I've always heard it was a calcium deficiency, but never really looked into it

that's a possibility too... my girlfriend actually pointed it out today and went on saying it's a calcium deficiency. It made me puzzled too, because I consume unhealthy levels of it

I got curious and googled around a little.

If you have a defficency of zinc its more likely for the whole nail to be whitish then just a little spot.

The little white spots are typically from trauma to the nail or cuticle IE hitting them, however the ones you see know are most likely 4 monthes old because it has taken that long for them to reach their location.

Yep, came in here to say this :wiggle: little floaty white spots aren't really anything to worry about.

I used to get those a lot when I was younger, but I get them very rarely now. I don't think it's a calcium defiency because when I was younger I take a hella lot of milk and now I don't drink any. Maybe it's an over abundance of calcium? :dunno:
