I want to get a card around $200 so I've been looking at the 6600 GT. It is a fairly new mid-ranged card that is able to play Doom 3 fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions for another graphics card around this price? I want to explore all the other possibilities before I buy a card.

Also, if I do get the 6600 GT, who is a good manufacturer to buy from? (Asus, Chaintech, Apollo, etc)

BFG has a nice 6600GT. there are no comparable cards right yet, ATI is releasing the standard X800 in jaunuary supposedly for around the same price as the 6600GT.

I bought the 6600GT and I have no regrets. Best card I've seen for the price. Honestly, I wouldn't even consider the 6800 because there's no noticable gaming difference for me. the 6600GT plays HL2 at max-specs without a hiccup.

I have the XFX because I wanted dual-dvi. Very happy.

it's already released isn't it? so they're just repricing it?

it looks like BFG's card is $250, a bit more than I would like to spend.
