Is the extra money really worth it with the 8800GTX?
I rarely play PC games as I am on teh PS3/X360 most of the time, however as of lately, I am playing CoD4 and FFOW on my PC and want more performance.

I don't have a smokin setup and don't plan on upgrading any time soon.
    AMD X2 4200+ (Socket 939)
    ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
    2GB Corsair XMS DDR400
    BFG 7950GTOC
    2 Striped WD 74GB Raptors
    XP Pro

Should I spend the extra money for the 8800GTX or would the 8800GTS get me by for a while? Any preference on manufacturer?

I have the GTS520. Benchmarks showing it running on par, if not better at times, than the 8800GTX.

Get the GTS. Cheaper and basically just as good.

I've got both. One is the BFG 8800GTX and the other is the BFG 8800GTS based on teh G92 core. It's the one with 512MB of ram (all G92's are 512mb.) Without running any benchmarks, they're the same. In 3dmark06 the GTX hits 13687 and the GTS hits 14154. In games, I can't tell the difference.

i'd say save the money and maybe buy more ram, but you probably don't really need it. 2gb should run most just fine

An 880gt would run cod4 perfect at max settings if you want to save some money.

I just built my new system with this card in it. Thing runs smoothhhhhh. I never realized how much bigger systems are now then when I bought my last computer. I went from an ATI 9700 Pro to the 8800 GTS G92 and its like 3 times the size.

Very nice card though. I also got EVGA incase the 9 series is worth it.

Good to know. I'll look into that once I get the card in.

Beware EVGA...they have serious fan problems down the line....my computer man won't even carry them because he had MANY of his customers come back with dead vid card fans. :(
