a friend and I are debating this, between; Army Special Forces, Army Rangers, AF Special Tactics, Marine Force Recon or Navy Seals. (Delta Force not included)

I know each one has their own specialty, but we are looking at overall performance.

Who gets called on the most? Who gets the most dangerous missions? You guys probably know more about this than I do.:x:

Marine Force recon is no longer around.

Got changed to MARSOC, when it became part of SOCOM.

The most high profile are probably the SEALS, however im sure the Army SF guys get there fair share of missions too.

Who knows, its all classified and they dont generally talk about what they do.

Just thought i'd throw this in, but I've heard that Airforce SF are comprised of some if not mostly prior servicemembers of other branches.

God I hate getting into these threads.

Ok, the only unit referred to as SF is Army Special Forces, everyone else falls under Special Operations.

As for the majority of the Air Force PJ's and CCT being prior service, it is partially correct. People who would meet the requirements for both career fields, and have the ability, normally have a mindset more fit for the Army and Marines. The PJ and CCT career fields are very demanding and exciting jobs, and attract operators from other areas of SOCOM and combat arms in other branches. Meaning a lot of jarheads and groundpounders transfer to the Air Force to become PJ's/CCT.

As for who is the most badass, that is impossible to ever determine. Each is a unique piece to a larger puzzle, and therefore are trained in their specialty. If you need a water infiltration the Seals are the best equipped, need a person rescued from enemy/terrorist control the D-boys are the team to call, need a country infiltrated and trained as an allie then call up SF. The AF PJ's provide CSAR duties, and Combat Controllers provide a CAS link between the AF and SOCOM. The Marines addition to SOCOM has brought about a unit that has a little mix of a couple other members of SOCOM. With all that said, comparing SOCOM units is like comparing the NBA, NFL, UEFA, F1, and Spelling Bee champions on one equal criteria.

The only legit arguement I have ever heard was from a Seal. When asked who he thought was the most important special operations type unit he replied "When a Seal gets in trouble who do they send"? Anyone know the answer?

Well in the case of Lt. Murphy and his SEALS, Army Rangers were sent to rescue them, but unfortunately their chopper was shot down on approach.

Well if you had read Lone Survivor by the sole surviving seal out of a group of 4 in a-stan, they sent in the Army Rangers to rescue him.

I knew a sgt down in Benning that was part of that team, but got held back and all his buddies ended up going. Said it was the worst feeling in the world. Guys had to walk so high some of them dropped their gear to make it, but the stallions of the group kept all their shit on and got to em.
