    Anyone familiar with these models? I read good things about the Panasonic, but the 52'' Sony will be on sale in January 09.

    The S line of sony is the cheapest one available. The image controls on it are pretty awful. Again, it's over priced for what it is b/c it's Sony. The panasonic is going to be an all around better tv for your money even compared to higher sony models.

    i just got a panasonic plasma (only 720p) but I have to say I'm very impressed with the picture, for both HD and SD signals.

    And I agree that you over pay for Sony

    The Panasonic will be a better value for the $$$. Sony is all about the name.
