which to upgrade?

    It goes right up to the dual core 4800+, but newegg doesn't list that cpu anymore.
    Go with the opteron 170. It's a 2.0GHz dual core cpu and the retail boxed version is $120.

    Do that and throw more ram in the box, same link you posted so the ram is matched, another $121 and you're at 241 plus tax.

    For the most part, the video card should be fine, and if you upgrade the board, you need to reinstall windows and you may just as well upgrade everything.

    i have 4 slots for ram (2 channels), any problem with throwing in 2x1gig sticks with the 2x512mb (in their respective channels paired up), same specs on each set.

    ebay has some options.

    no issue doing that, just try to match brands and timings if you can.

    second best choice for ~$120? opteron 170 is out of stock, i'm watching ebay as it is.

    edit : came in stock this morning, fun.
