so originally i 'purchased' an XTI on Ebay, but i never got to me. guy kept saying that he sent it, but i never got it, and then all of a sudden he won't reply to my messages, so fuck him. i got my money back, and have enough money to get a good camera, so which one? im looking at the D90 and the 40D. i have slightly large hands and have heard that the nikon bodies are a little larger than the canon's. what do y'all think? is the D90 kit lens any good or should i just buy the body and get a 50 2.8?

Go play with them in the store and decide what feels better in your hands. If you can't find a 40D, play with a 50D, it's the same chassis.

why the 30D over the 40D?

unfortunately im not in the position to fingerfuck the bodes at the store. i've held a D40 that a coworker has, it feels ok

why is the 30D better than the 50D
in the nikon lineup it seems as the model # goes up. so does quality/price.
is that the same for canon?

    good for a kit lens.

what type of stuff will you be shooting?

also, you may want to look into getting a grip for any cameras you get.

go for used 40D. The camera has depreciated enough that you cna get your hands on a low shutter count reletively new one for 650 or so. The camera for released 17 months ago but then the 50D came out after the 40D was out liek a year so it brought the price down quickly.

    You wont be disappointed :bigok:

Plus, not like you can upgrade the glass later down the road if you get serious about this.

For now just learn as much about it as you can and you'll be okay ;)

then you don't have large hands...the d40 would have felt like a pack of cigs compared to the others.

right now i use a P&S cybershot, so the D40 was a big step up in size compared to that

if you're set on getting the d90, just get the body and the tamron 17-50 2.8 as your first lens. i think amazon sells the body for around $900.
