I'm switching to nextel cause i can get on a friends and family plan from a relative that works there so for $10 a month i get 350 anytime minutes, 1000 night and week, unlimited direct connect, unlimited text, free long distance. I also get a discount on phones. I want a flip phone with a color display and the ones i'm considering are the i730, the i830, as well as the new i710. I get the i730 for $120, the i830 for $180 and the i710 for $90 or less. Now if you look at the specs they are all basically identical in what they include and can do?!?! The best deal comparing my price to the normal selling price is the i830, but i'm not gonna pay extra if i'm not getting anything extra! I heard the i730 had some issues. The i710 is brand new so i don't know much about it but it looks nice. Which would you get?

the only thing more annoying than people talking on cell phones in a restaurant is people talking on damn nextel direct connect calls in a restaurant. i was about ready to cram a woman's phone her throat the other night while i was out trying to have a nice quiet dinner with my wife and some woman at the next table got a direct connect call. would have been slightly less annoying if it didn't beep every time the person said something.

    :climbs off soapbox: :)

I'de go for i830, I have the 730 has serious signal issues can fluxuate from a couple bars to no service and apparently its a common i730 problem.. being the i710 is basically a 730 w/o the caller ID window I'de think it would suffer the same problems.. Once the i860 comes I am dumping my 730

hmm thanks and yea i've got to admit i'm not to fond of the direct connect myself....i don't like the idea of people just being able to start talking to me. I'm just switching cause my plan expires, i need something in philly, and its dirt cheap

I always switch my DC speaker off when I am in places that it is inappropriate to use the speaker. I find it annoying as hell too when people are inconsiderate with the speaker.

its like that with EVERY nextel phone, its not just a 730 problem. My i90 did that, all my friends nextels do that.

I have the I730, and I love it. I've never had a problem with the signal or anything like that. Nextel has a few new phones coming out soon though, if you can wait. There is a i860, which is similar to the 830, but a camera phone, with a small color screen on the outside of the flip. And there will also be a i930 and 960, both color, and both camera phones, with a large screen on the outside of the flip. The 930 runs java (I believe, I may be wrong, it may run windows like the 960), similar to the 710, 730 and 830 that are currently out. The 960 is really cool. It has a pretty big outside screen and a large screen on the inside. It also runs Windows Mobile. Very nice. They should be coming out pretty soon. You can already get them on ebay though. I think I saw the 930 for around $200. Take a look.

hmm I still have a i60c and my contract has expired... I guess I'll stay with nextel but I need a new phone. I hope the 830 will drop in price when the new ones come out.

Im still in love with my i90 :) Personally I think the 90 is one the best phones they have. Sure it doesnt have the features like the newer phones but I really dont need any of that just a phone to talk on. Quality wise I think its one of the best made. The 90 and 95 feel like tanks and can take a beating. I get great reception too.
