I just got out of college and got a REAL job. Now I have money to buy some toys. I've had experience on a 550cc v-twin for a while and I'm looking to upgrade. I love naked bikes. I understand the engine configuration and torque/power curves on all of them so I don't need a lecture. I'm just wondering, based on aesthetic appeal and engine type (2, 3, or 4 cylinder), which bike you would choose.

Damn, tough choice as they're all great looking machines. For me, if it were an only bike, I'd probably end up going with the sv, with the triple a very, very close 2nd.

The speed triple is a much better hoolie bike than the SV. Plus, everybody has an SV.

I'd get the Kawasaki just to be different. I think they look like something from Buck Rogers Meets Versace or something like that...

Based on looks, I'd go for the Kawi.

Also, is it just me or does everyone have a sense of fall off the back when looking at the Triumph?

the sv is by far the best bet, they were giving away full lowers a while back, not sure if theyre still doing it. the only reason the sv 1000 doesnt sell is because for the same price or near it you can get a ss, totally different bikes.

I'd like to get a black 2005 SV1000S and take the nose off it and put on a dual headlight system like the Speed Triple. The only thing I didn't like about the naked 2003 SV1000 was the gauge cluster. It looked like a total afterthought. They put on chrome mirrors, but left a black plastic gauge cluster. They should have put on a round chrome set-up with the naked version. I've always liked the lower fairing though. There were a lot of people who put that lower on their 2003 SV1000.

I like the sexy look of the Z1000, but I don't know if I like that 4 cylinder in there. I've read some reviews where power delivery was pretty jerky. I suppose that's what they were going for on a hooligan bike. The dual gold exhaust is :naughty:

And yes, I think my wife might slip right off the back of the Triumph. Pretty stubby.

good call on the dual lights up front, i wasnt going to say anything but yeah, that is the sexy. You can get bar end mirrors for them, they look prety slick. The gages do need work, there are tons of aftermarket sets that are way low profile. I munched my gages on a get off and was looking at this one http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/veypor.htm

I like the kawasaki but all the gold on it turns me off. Based purely on looks, I'd go with the triumph. As far as performance goes, you can't go wrong with the Suzuki.

great choice of bikes up there. i've been wanting to upgrade to the kawi z1000 for some time now. but after i saw pics of the 05 sv1000s in black w/ the black frame... it's a tie imo when it comes down to looks. i ride my buddy's sv650s quite often and discovered i'm more of an inline 4 guy.

for the money? no way, you would be amazed how much you pay to have the word DUCATI on the side of your bike while not gaining that much in ride quality/performance

You ever been to Beaudry Motorsports? I live in Kitsap Co., WA so it'd take me 5 hours to get there. Is it worth it?

They ship ALOT of bikes to Washington/Seattle. My friend got his Tuono from them and it was pretty headache free.

I sat on a Z1000 at the Seattle Motorcycle Show. Its tank is REALLY wide. I didn't think it was that comfortable. Do you own one? Have you riden one for an extended period of time?
