i dont yet understand enough to know what are good lenses , but i would love input, something with wide angle good for street photography/people, mainly, all around lense. $200 max (wish i could afford more at this point).
    edit
i know i have asked alot of stupid questions, but i've got d70 instead of d50, which i think is a better choice, but now i need the lense :O

don't buy a quantaray lens EVER!

the 50mm will do you just fine for now. all of the other lenses i'd stay away from. or just save your money after you get the 50mm

Quantarays are rebranded low end Sigma's... You get what you pay for.

can't go wrong with the 50 1.8 if you are just beginning. You can't zoom, but focusing with your feet will teach you alot. And, for $60, you aren't going to find a sharper lens.
