Which is the better cardio and why?

    stationary bike? maybe elliptical since you are standing up and probably using more muscles. i guess i like the bike a little better though. :hsd: like i have said before, i am trying to do some HIIT but gauging it with rpms as opposed to heartrate since my HR doesnt fluxuate much (pretty steady 175-180)

    elliptical has less impact on joints, which is generally preferable... but depends what you mean by 'better'

    for burning more fat. i train pretty hard on the bike, i dont know if i could train the same on the elliptical.

    im not going to pretend i know the answer for that... given the same intensity, i would guess the elliptical burns more because it works more muscles than a stationary bike.....

    I do the bike because it is easy. All that matters for cardio is that your heart rate is elevated at a constant (160-170) rate for at least 15 min.

    I wear a heart rate monitor when doing cardio and I can tell you that it is a hell of a lot harder to keep my heart rate up on a bike. The treadmill is my first choice and the elliptical machine is my second.
