I try to get around 5 portions a day but I can't always get the veggi's in to my meals. So I was wondering what the best fruits are that I could be going for instead of the vegetables. I hope that makes sense. I mean from a nutritional point of view, which fruits are best to eat assuming that I may not be receiving the nutrients of veggi's.

    Thanks :wavey:

fruits are not vegetables. You need both and you need vegetables more than you do the fruit if you had to pick one

Have at least one cup of veggies with 2 or 3 meals and you'll be fine

I hate vegetables and I get it done. I'll have a meal with 2 cups spinach and my post workout meal has 1-2 cups of brocolli. That's at least 3 cups there. I'll get mixed vegetables with carrots, red peppers, green beans etc

another option is to buy vegetables that are near-bad (deeply discounted), get home, chop blanch and freeze (in individual or daily servings) them immediately

There is more fiber/vitamines in the fruit of the skin

so skinning and apple and eating the skin is better than eating the core and will give macros of fiber similar to veggies.

look on calorie count websites for fruits with lower sugar amounts and high fiber

either one is decent for mashing. season heavily, and mix liberally with whatever else you're eating at the time

You need both, as has been said. Also, if you're dieting, veggies have fewer calories in general than fruits, so you'll have more dietary wiggle room in that way.

I usually end up with 2 fruit servings and 2-3 veggies per day and I don't sweat it. I use a lot of dried fruit since I'm on the run all day, and I usually have frozen berry mix in the freezer to throw into shakes/cottage cheese/greek yogurt.
