I am trying to decide what I like better but I'd like your feedback.

I like the imagevuex a bit better due to the ease of just adding one image vs. simpleviewer. The only thing I dont like about imagevuex is that the display size is like 640x??? and that if you have another picture you have to scroll up and down on the thumb nail and can't see the whole thing unless you open it up in a new window (cool feature too though). I also like that you can add descriptions with it. I also like it because you can have seperate albums that are all interconnected and easy to navigate through instead of using a back button.

Here are the two different galleries.

    www.photosbypelf.com/gallery (imagevuex)
www.photosbypelf.com/ (simpleviewer -- click on one of the categories to see an example gallery)

And before anyone asks, the site for imagevuex is www.imagevuex.com. If you search, there is a thread with a Rar file if you want "test it out before buying it." Don't ask for a link, my sub ran out and I can't search.

So what do you like better?

thats really too bad you have to scrool to see the shole pic. Otherwise its potentially alot better and cleaner, imo. Did you see the simpleviewer thread from last week, we ended up figuring out how to add backgrounds and html to it, to give it a more customized look

    No, I missed it....Will take a look.

I was thinking of just putting it in a frame and have a cell on the top with navigation between categories but the real big issue for me is just having to go through picassa and reupload all these files to put even one image on the site. The nice thing about Imagevuex is that there is a built in uploader/admin panel.

the index file stays the same, its just the inmagedata file and obviously you need the image in the images folder. I'm sure you could manually update it fairly easily

I like first one too, But I'm not sure how easy it is for someone to navigate.

I dont like it either, the fact that you have to wait for all the images to load to view them.....

I really dont mind it too much but I wish it had more features. We should all put in like 20 bucks, have them make "ComplexViewer" with some kind of upload form, navigation, integrated galleries/sub galleries etc. I'd be down and I'm sure if we could grab enough people they would do it. Its not a really bad system, just needs some more lovin.

Their site says there is an "upload" folder in the folders, but the .rar doesnt have that.....I am about as rookie as they come with flash galleries...

Do you unrip the .rar folder, then upload the whole package into your server

Yes, then in the "content" folder, you have all the main categories then within those you need atleast one other folder

You can either use that or FTP.

If Im uploading more than one or two Ill do FTP just because its easier and I can do them all at the same time. If its just one image ill use the admin so I dont have to open up FTp clients or anything like that.

Your server probably doesnt meet the requirements that it needs (see their site for list) if it wont even make thumbnails.

I am using dreamhost as well so that isnt it then.

I couldnt get images to load (thumbs would though) if I uploaded images that i saved using the save for web as function on photoshop. When I saved after resizing and editing the original normally (save as) it worked. maybe try that?
