I need one and just wondering which one(s) the AP crew like. I really want a 3" screen. I have my eye on the SD790, but I'm disappointed that the Canon firmware hack doesn't support it yet.

    I dont have any.

If I could get one, it would probably be the SD1200 IS.
If I had even more money, Id like to replace my old HV10 and get an SX1IS. That camera is amazing.

Just bought the SD790IS cause it was on sale at Best Buy and didn't want to pass up the $170 pricetag. But they also have the SD880IS for $234 clearance. I can't decide if I should keep the 790 or exchange it for the 880. The only differences I've found is the 880 has 4x optical and saves movies in MOV (H.264) format. Also the back is plastic, but feels less cheap than the 790. Maybe I'm just crazy about the cheap thing.

    Any recommendations?

I'm still sporting a Canon S45. It's been through a lot...dropped a couple of times, taken apart once, battery needs to be replaced, sensor is going (putting a line on every picture.....It's time for a replacement, I'm just too stingy to buy a new P&S.

Wider meaning wider angle or something else? How much wider than the 790?

Is it really worth the extra $60?

yes sir, wider angle lens. It is well worth the extra 60 bucks. For a point and shoot pocket camera, i would say the wider the better.
