Well first, what is cheap range ammo i can put through it for the range. i don't care if it is dirty, i will clean it every time. but the second is, 9mm or 45, those are the two cal's i am set on :o

i'd like the 45, but the price for ammo is a considerable bit more expensive.
$40 more a box adds up after awhile. this is possibly something i may carry in the future. or possibly buy something in the future for carry. too many decisions :o

You mean $4.00 more a box, right?

I had the same dilemma, but ended up getting the .45 USP over the 9mm :)

wtf ammo are you buying, everything i see is a good bit more expensive :o

  5. i think you mean a case of 20 50-rd boxes is $40 extra? although it can be as much as $100 extra.

Is this your only handgun? If so I say 9mm. If you already have a plinker (cheap to shoot) I say 45.

i have a 22 to shoot. i'd like something a bit more reliable to hit the range with as well and i could use as a carry :o

I buy WWB at Wal Mart or Magtech at Ace Hardware for practice ammo. Prices are almost identical so it's whoever has the most.

    .45 230gr runs 11.75 for a box of 50
    .40 159gr runs 12.95 for a box of 50
    9mm 147gr runs 12.95 for a box of 50
sometimes if I can find the lighter 124gr ammo it's the same price as the .45

If this is your only gun, it depends on what you shoot best. I'm most accurate with 9mm, thats why its my top choice....gotta be able to put them where it counts. If I was equally as quick, and accurate with 45, I'd go with that.

Your Walmart doesnt have the 100 round bonus packs? They are 11.95/100 for 9mm and 14.xx/100 in .40. I've never seen a 100 pack for .45 though.

    I'd say 9mm

For practice ammo, repeat after me:

Academy, Win Q4172, 115gr FMJ, Copper jacketed, $4.99/50rd box.

  14. then get the XD45 and a glock 9 :coold:

I would say go get the XD40 and get the 9mm conversion. Then you have the best of both worlds..

    Just my .02.

The XD-45 is probably too big to carry unless you weigh like 300+ lbs.

carries just like any other 9mm/40 4" glock, sig, xd. That's why it's such a great design, 14 rounds of .45 in a package the same size as their smaller caliber models. (actually just a hair bigger, but the difference is so minute that it's not noticable)

45 XD has a lighter recoil, at least for me than the 9. 9 is more snappy, 45 is more of a push. 45 also pushes more directly back into my hand than the 9. I went back out to the range today and finally did a side by side comparison.

Man Looking at the pic, makes me want to take out my XD 9 and hit the range. I haven't done it in a while.
