ATF application was sent a few days ago. There is a range (25 yards :hsugh: ) not too far from my house.

Which cheap C&R gun do you recommend for someone who just wants to smell gunpowder and punch holes in paper?

If I ever decide to go hunting with my old man I'd probably pick up something else.

A Mosin is fine if you just want something that goes boom when you pull the trigger. Get an SKS if you want something that you might actually find useful for something else someday.

I would have to say a mosin as they are cheap and fairly accurate.
If you like a nice accurate, long rifle, like me then go with a 91/30
Theres always the m38 and m44 also

    What range?

edit: if it's blue ridge, good luck getting a real rifle round there. only pistol or pistol caliber stuff, for the most part I thought...9mm, 22, etc. .223 if it's frangible.

No idea, I just peered through the plexiglass, I did not enter the range itself.

I stopped by yesterday to look at what they had for sale...odd selection. Lots of really old lever actions, some M1s, a few AR15s or something, and expensive pistols. No "meat and potatoes" guns :o

edit: I want to get one without the grenade launcher.

Is it usually the Yugos that have that thing?

Yeah its the yugo's that have them but there are models available with out it, the yugo's are the cheapest ones available, if you want to spend a bit more look for a russian or chinese one I prefer them over the yugo's.

really? other than the fact that 8mm seems to have just dried up, other than just recently, 8mm was easier (and cheaper) for me to find.

Ammoman has 900 rnds for $99, $59 if you pick up at the store.

Midway USA also shows they have 900 rnds for $74.99 on their site.
