This is going in an 05 ram single cab. Going to be running off of either a Alpine 9831 or 9833 for the time being. I need something that is not extremely bright and something that is smooth. I can get any infinity stuff at cost and the same with jl. Anyone have any recommendations? Focal, cdt?

Infinity Kappa Perfects if you can get them at cost man. I'd say Focal, but the Kappa Perfects are probably going to be better than a $300 Focal set.

I can get the kappa perfects for around $150 no tax or anything. I just wish I didn't need to use a seperate amp on them.

I'm running Phoenix Gold ZR 6.5 comps.. Not sure how they compare to the Infinity's, but they sound fantastic. I'm running about a 104 watts to them atm.

You are going to need to run an amp to any component set, not just the perfects, that is if you want them to reach their potential

Yes. I've worked in car audio for about 3 years before I switched to cellular. Its been awhile for audio but I still get hookups on car audio and home theater.

That's true that the THD figure is quite low, but as long as its below 3 percent or so, it wont be audible anyways.

In other words, the differences between the Monitor and JL wouldnt be due to the amount of total harmonic distortion and noise.

Then it would be due to crossover slope and other features?

JL may have one of the better subs out, but their amps are still middle of the road.

Which amp would you reccomend then for powering highs? I'm also going to be running a 10w3-d4 in a sealed box and was planning on just running a 250/1 jl amp. If there is a better amp out there that can control the sub please let me know.

not that there are really any other needed features. but yeah u may get a more precise crossover and steeper slope with certain amplifiers. use the ones on the head unit though and the amplifier's Xovers wont matter :) all personal preference though. and how much power the amplifier actually puts plays a factor as well.

there is no "controlling the sub", JL makes awesome amplfiiers that are very underrated. if thats what u want, get it.
    other companies to check out....
crossfire, phoenix gold, kicker, audsion, USamps, Cadence, DEI, memphis, Xtant....blah blah..

Well I'm going to be replacing my rear speakers also and would probably end up needing a 4 channel. Yes I know a true sound stage comes from the front.

    i mean 4's didnt mean the C

the CXS62 is a 2 ohm 6.5in component set and the CXS64 is a 4 ohm component set.. basically it allows you to get more power out of your amp

For that $$...the JL XRs (srp 399.95)on hook up price would rock or the Focal Access (srp 349)...and don't be so sure about the Perfects sounding better than the Focal Access...best is to go listen to them all
