I'm looking at getting a .44 magnum soon (I'm a sucker for the big boom). I wanted to see peoples opinions on the different models out there. The only one I've shot was a S&W 6" and I liked it a lot. I'm going to use it mostly for blowing stuff up (cans and bottles). Any opinions on other models?

The Ruger is awesome and able to take any load. The S&W is a little more fragile, but you will probably quit before it does.

I would love one but their like 1200 bucks. I saw the taurus at the store the other day and thought it was pretty nice. I guess I'm gonna have to go back down to the store and check them out again, thanks for the replies.

Where did you get that info from?

I must be lucky cuz I've got more than 3000 rds through mine and no problems. The only issue I have is after a day of shooting I have to retighten my safety screw cuz it comes loose. Oh yea and I have to polish it back up :big grin:

I love my 7.5 Inch Stainless Ruger Super Black Hawk. I did have to replace the factory grips, because, well my pussy hurt to much to put to many round through her without gloves.

I plan on doing some whitetail hunting with it this season. Started working as a guide for some of my friends and I really dont need to carry my .30-06 around the couple hundred acres while putting guys in their spots for the days hunt.

Also adds another challange to the sport.

I will also say that Rugers Customer Service is great! My dumbass buddy tried to turn the cylinder while the hammer was cocked and fucked it up. 2 weeks later it was fixed at no cost.

Well the general mentality of OT towards guns is that they have to cost a bunch of money to be worth anything. Trying to prove otherwise.

This is actually pretty accurate, since I am gonna just blow stuff up I would rather not spend a fortune, but at the same time I'm willing to spend enough to get a nice gun that will last. I'm gonna probably go with the S&W or the Ruger. Again, thanks to everyone for the info.

you definately have a wide choice for a decent revolver. I carried a Ruger Super Redhawk for awhile and it never let me down, but S&W made one that I want to get my hands on. 629 Stealth Hunter.

If you plan on shooting it much get the S&W, I have a 454 Taurus and I dont shoot it much cause a friends that did shoot alot wore out and started falling apart. Rugers are nice but S&W revolvers are top nitch. I have a DE .50.....revolver is more fun.
