OKay please tell me if I understand this correctly....

To get maximum results, both types of protein should be utilized. Casein is typically better for right before bed time. While Whey is best before and after workouts. Other than the timing issue, both proteins are pretty much the same thing.

So I should consume both whey and casein. Casein will probably be used for in the morning and right before I go to bed. Whey will be used before and after I workout.

yes that's pretty correct, although neither are better than real food.

also, whey has has a biological value of 104, while casein has a biological value of 77. just something to keep in mind

in the morning, whey might be better if you can't get real food so your starved body can absorb it faster. or a blend of both.

whey is absorbed by the body at a rate of ~9g/hr, where casein is absorbed at ~6g/h.

can't have whey be your only source of protein all day long.. powders have their place right around workouts and when you are on the go but you will get better nutrients/vitamins/etc from eating real food.
