Where do you keep your home protection gun? Especially if you have kids. Guns in a locked safe with the safety on and a gun lock on them... well, the GUN is safe, but you're not! So if you have a weapon you keep handy, how do you store it so that
    1) it is safe from visitors, kids, or burglars
    2) it is within easy reach for you if bad guys come a knockin'

    ???

Mine is next to my dresser, very close to my bed. Remington 870, no kiddies to worry about for me.

While I'm home and awake it is usually on me. Or on top of the fridge out of the way of the kids (for now). At night I have a small top loading electric combo safe that I keep at my bedside between my bed and nightstand. When I go to bed I drop in my carry pistol and when the kids wake up and come into our room, I just close the lid.

The rest are in the main safe..shotgun loaded and chambered. Electric combo for quick entry if needed. May not be the quickest, but it's a good combination of convenience and safety with kids in the house.

No kids in the house and I never entertain so it's just me and the dogs. Girlfriend comes by now and then (LDR) but she's quite proficient so I'm not worried. I keep a G19 on me when I'm at home otherwise it's in a cigar box under my alarm clock on the nightstand. M590A1 is on my side of the bed and an AR is on her side of the bed. Extra mags and shells are in a small Pelican case on her side.

No breadsnappers to worry about, but the G17 is in a convenient position near the bed at all times. Maybe I ought to get some sort of small safe for it, but I have trouble envisioning a place to secure it for quick access that's also discreet and convenient.

I hope your house doesn't get robbed, or those things are locked up somehow.

I say this knowing that all my guns are unlocked, in my closet, in plain view. I'm a hypocrite. :hs:

Well, I went ahead and picked up a pair of shelves from Wally World (the stackable kind), built a false-rear into it, and mounted it on the wall with hinges. Rem 870 tactical how hangs invisibly in the master bath. All I gotta to is swing up the shelf (we're going to put towels in it) and lift the gun off off the wall.

Took me all damn day to figure out the finer details, but I could do it in 2hrs if I wanted to do it again. I figure the master bath is the safest room in the house- small windows so you can't just bust in, door to bedroom locks + door to bathroom locks. When you need precious seconds, it's the perfect place to hide.

On an unrelated note, I'm not too happy with the location and feel of the pump release on the 870. I have an older 12ga. that has the release at the rear of the trigger, and this one has the release in front of it. WTF? How can you cycle fast like that? It's also pretty tiny, and difficult for my son to engage- the one on the old shotty I have is thicker metal.

Glock 17 with Glock GTL21 on the rail in the night stand loaded with Speer Gold Dots and one mag change. Glock 19 loaded with Speer Gold Dots is my every day carry and is also in the night stand at night.

G22 always next to me, be that at the computer, watching TV, or sleeping. My headboard has a nice little compartment that is just made for something like a gun, so that's where the Glock sleeps when I sleep.

All my guns, accessories, and ammo are in a locked cabinet in the room next to my bedroom. I keep a sword in the bedroom closet, however, in the event I need to fight my way to the guns.

Top shelf in the closet. Just the one gun though. Other one stays locked up.
Kids can't reach, or even climb that high, and they know better anyway.

During the day I'm either carrying it or I put it away if I'm staying home.
