One of my friends asked me to send him some good websites where he can learn the basics of BBing, nutrition, etc. I realized that I've never seen a good site for beginners (altho I've seen tons of sites with shitty info on them). I can't tell him to read the stickies cuz he's not an OTer.

I remember when I was beginning I read a lot of books and BBing forums. Should I just send him to some forums and tell him to search? Or do you guys know of any good sites for complete noobs.

I liked John Berardi's book...The Metabolism Advantage. A complete plan is in there and its an easy read.

For websites, the community at Johnstonefitness.com were very helpful.

I like the book better for a complete beginner. The problem with websites and forums is that it can pull you in many different directions.

despite what you tell most people, they usually only want to hear what they are doing currently is correct. So you just waste your time.

You see it all in the main OT forum "attn brolies" threads

Because your stubbornly contrived negativity towards all non-elite PL or accomplished BB won't let you think of alternative reasons.

I've captained state and regional lacrosse teams on high school and college levels. I had THE fastest recorded shot in the nation multiple times for my age group.

It's not up your alley of interests of accomplishments, but believe it or not if I give private lessons (I don't anymore) I'd admit fitness and nutrition aren't my forte so I forward them info from F&N and a couple other places.

Think there aren't guys who will see MaineSucks and think he's just some overweight dude who pounds beers?

So why judge arbitrary questions I get based on a picture of my progress?

Does it mean I know nothing of the subject?

edit: and I don't look bad so I don't know why you even brought it up out of everyone else in the thread -- which brings me back to my first point

In reality I am moreso of the opinion that if you haven't done it yourself you can't really give advice.

As for Maine.. is he fat? Yes. Does he look like he lifts? Yes.

I wasn't trying to be a dick, I was mostly poking fun at you. But you play Lacrosse, you must have a poor sense of humor :p

When people ask for advice, they mostly need to :
    1) Always take the most active activity. Ex : if you can stand or sit, just. If you can walk or take your car, walk. If you can watch tv or exercise (walk, run, lift weights), exercise.
    2) Try to eat stuff with only 1 ingredient.

If they need more, I give them info but most of the time they don't do it. I'll try to find a basic nutrition book though, what is a carb/protein/fat and so on. The problem with website is that they usually are either misinformed/toning oriented or eating disorder-brology oriented (t-nation).

Lyle MacDonald's guide to flexible dieting is good as far an nutrition goes.
