Looking to pick one up as an old reliable just to have around. kinda trying to diversify from the composite stock style rifles for a bit. :mamoru:

308 probably the best to go? 30/30? :dunno:

thought this might make a little different discussion than what we've all been talking about lately.

30/30 will be a lot more common and probably cheaper than .308 in this style of rifle.

Go to more sporting/hunting oriented shops if you're looking locally. And always check the pawn shops.

.308 is only an option if you get a Browing BLR or Savage 99.

And if I were you I'd just get a Marlin.

I personally like a Marlin 336 derivatives much more than I like the Winchesters.

If you are wanting 308, or the ability to shoot bullets/calibers that don't suck; might I suggest a Savage 99?

Was looking for the pre-64 versions, just wondering if they're going to be too expensive. 30/30 will be cheaper too. hrmm

Can't really go wrong with .30-30 in a lever gun. Pretty good variation in factory loads too.
