My roommate has friends over fairly often and when the discussion turns to guns I usually bring examples downstairs for people to see. I've never had a problem with this, I know the gun is clear and I'm there to make sure no one does anything stupid.

Well, dropped by my house after work yesterday for just a couple minutes and my roommate was hanging out with a buddy. I left and didn't get back until this morning. My saiga was not how I left it.

I thought about this for a while today and finally sent him a text message that said "my firearms are not show and tell items for your friends"

His response was "the fuck is up your vagina?"

This is fairly irritating and I can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe its a lack of respect, or viewing guns more as toys i'm not really sure.

    Opinions?

What liability would I have if something happened when I wasnt there?

I'd move out, I wouldn't live with people who go into my room, guns aside.

Also quite showing off guns to people who aren't your friends.

    Also get a safe.

Sounds like you roommate isn't mature enough to be handling firearms anyway.

    @ claymore

I don't really want to buy a safe until I own a home, i'm assuming they'd be a horrible pain in the ass to move. Maybe some kind of locking metal cabinet would work until then though.

I'd definitely have a talk with your roommate, but you should also find a way to secure your firearms. Ideally, they should be accessible to you, but inaccessible to anyone else. At the very least, lock your bedroom door, buy a key-locking doorknob for your closet, etc. I wouldn't want anyone in my room at all.

That's the point of a safe.

Do you not care about your firearms being secure just because you're not in a house yet?

If the gun isn't locked up, there's a good chance you will take heat.

Lock that shit up when you're not in the house, even if its just a trigger/action lock.

Well, 2/5 of my roommates have guns, so it's not really an issue for us. It's kind of a mutual respetct thing, we won't handle the others' firearms without the owner present.

Mine is locked in a case in a locked room anyway, so it doesn't really matter. It would be a PITA in a shtf situation, but I figure right now it's better to error on this side then have somebody steal my gun/fuck with it when I am not home.

You could have just said, 'Hey, please don't mess with my guns when I'm not around.'

You didn't have to come off all cool and smarmy.

Get a safe, don't show your guns to people you don't know. Try to keep your guns low key or word might get out and your pad gets targeted.

[scum fuck criminal]I heard from some pot smoking burn out that his buddy was at another buddys house and there are all kinds of guns just laying around for us to loot[/scum fuck criminal]

If you get a smallish rifle safe say for 10 - 15 long runs they fit through doors no problem. Rent a furniture dolly and you can move it yourself or most safe places can move it and install it for a fee (about $150).

I am going to just by small 10 rifle safes from now on. I'll keep 2 in the garage and one in my apartment. Presently I just have the ones in the garage. Makes it easier to access my guns as I can segegate one safe as my competition guns, other safes for other guns.

you're an idiot. you can get a cheap safe for ~150-$200 that will do just fine.

you're responsible if those guns get in his or his friends hands and someone dies or gets hurt. you do realize this, right? :hsugh:

You can get a safe for $200 that's heavy enough to not be able to be picked up and carried away?

and, no I didn't realize that, hence why I asked

Put it in a closet. Clearly you don't give a fuck if your guns get stolen anyways, and if their in a locked safe, at least you tried.

Let's just say, do you enjoy owning guns?

Well, being in an apartment, there's not a lot of places to look if someone wanted to steal your guns anyway. So, most likely, they are going to be taken either way - if they are loose and in the closet, or if they are in a small gun safe (that can just be carried away) in a closet.

Because a closet is going to do what exactly?

I posted this for advice and guidance and you come in here with insults and make assumptions that "I don't care if my guns are stolen"

    Kiss my ass
