I always buy at a local shop to check out the knife, its construction, qualities, etc. But that's me.

Same. Once I found a knife for $40-50 cheaper online, so I went to the store and handled it, then went home and bought it online. Only time I've ever purchased a knife online. The local knife shop(s) actually have quite competitive pricing most of the time.

i hate it when people abuse all of the benefits of B&M and then complain at the neccessary cost-difference to offer those benefits.

If you use the benefits of B&M, then pay the prices to keep them in business!
