I'm getting concerned about my ammo supply and I would like to get some of those silica gel packets to stick in there. Short of going to the nearest shoe store and shaking them out of all the boxes where do I get them?

search for "desiccant" you don't necessarily need silica. there are re chargable desicant pack you can buy that are much larger (or whatever size you want). we use em all the time for work.

EDIT: lol, just found this http://www.desiccantpackets.com/

Any bad consequences to keeping a reloaded ammo for a long time?

    not that i know of.

if its sealed in a cool dry place, in the original packaging or ammo cans i doubt you'll have a problem. if you live in a more humid environment, get some packets from a shoe store :mamoru:

I just save them everytime I get something that has one. I just toss in little packets in my ammo box.

Arts & crafts stores sell it in big tubs for pretty cheap. They sell it for drying flowers or some shit. I just buy the tub, and a bunch of little cloth drawstring baggies that are 30/$1 or something and make my own packets.

When I worked at Mervins (it was for all of 2 days) I worked on the truck unloading crew and every box we unpacked had a good sized on in it, we had so many that we started throwing them up into the rafters to try and brake them, that said we filled up 2 garbage cans with them then just dumped them into the garbage. So if you go to a department store and ask they will probably give them to you. Also if you live in a humid enviroment you will need to bake out the water that they pick up other wise they are useless. To do this put them on a baking sheet in you oven set to 225 for an hour or so to boil off the water.
