Ill be getting my tax return back on the 9th. I want to get a Nikon D40. Where would be the best place to get it for a decent price, and what accessories should I get with it? :hs:

Get a 50mm f/1.8 lens ($100ish). It won't autofocus on the D40, but it's a good lens to have if you're going to be doing any portraits.

Get a 52mm circular polarizing filter. Both the 50mm f/1.8 and the kit lens have 52mm filter threads, so it'll fit both of them.

SB-600 flash. The SB400 is cheaper, but can't rotate to the sides, thus bouncing the flash off the ceiling while holding the camera vertical = no go with the 400.

Get a couple decent fast SD cards. 1GB will hold about 135 RAW shots on the d40.

Tripod. No need to spend $500 on one, but don't spend $15 either.

sweet, ill be purchasing my camera from them then. What other lense would you have me get? Im thinking of picking up that portrait lense mentioned earlier off ebay, but there seems to be a wide variety. And how about filters? are they really worth it?

at least get a UV filter

because you want to break the filter andnot the lens if you hit it on something

you have to be very careful with the ebay auctions because most of those cameras are refurbished or not from an authorized reseller. Cameta is one of the few official resellers that does most of the business on ebay.
