Throughout the years, I have never used iPhoto, Aperture, etc. I have always stored my photos in basic folders on my computer. I am thinking about organizing them all together, which do you guys use and/or suggest?

I still prefer to manage my files manually even though I do use Lightroom a lot. I just can't see myself letting one program manage all photos.

Snapshots from the P&S - iPhoto
RAW images from the dSLR - Aperture (I manage the files myself though in folders separated by year/month/event)

I'm not photography pro, but I've got about 7000 pictures and iPhoto has been great for me.

I just keep mine in folders, what advantage would it be to use iPhoto?

I still organize mine in folders, but think of iPhoto like iTunes-- a central location that you can browse your pics instead of navigating folders and trying to find specific pics.

Plus you can put keywords for what's in the photos and use them to search later.
