where do i identify my video card on Winxp home

    my card looks different for some reason, since i got it back from home

    how does it look "different"? You mean you think someone swapped cards on you? A visual inspection is best. But you can also right click "My Computer" and go to "Manage" Then in the device manager you can look at "Display Adaptors" and it will tell you what driver you're using.

    yeah, i think someone changed cards on me. i'm suuposed to have an radeon 9600,so far the device manager just says unknown. its been awhile since i've seen the card, but it looks kinda thin too me. Someone's gonna die.

    if it says "unknown" then the driver isn't there. Download the new one from www.ati.com

    if you think it's swapped, a visual inspection is the way to go... open the case up.

    thanks for the help. the driver does say what its supposed to, although card itself doesn't have ati written on it anywhere i can see

    not all Radeon cards are ATi built. They have an ATi chipset "powered by ATi", but not necessarily "Built by ATi".

    not nessesarily. There are a lot of manufactures that ATI cards that aren't OEM. :mamoru:

    Search for SANDRA software
    run the program
    this program will tell you info about every piece of hardware in your machine!
