I need to reformat but windows setup isn't recognizing my SATA harddrive, so I need to get the SATA drivers onto a floppy so I can reformat.

Where do I get these drivers?

    CPU: Athlon XP 1.9ghz
    MOTHERBOARD: ASUS A7V8X Delux
    HARDDRIVE: Seagate 80gb SATA
GRAPHICS CARD: Radeon 9800 Pro 128
    RAM: 768mbs

you must have a pre SP1 xp disc. You can get some tools from Seagate or merge SP2 with the disc you have like I did.

Well first of all, I didn't know if you had to get SATA drivers for the harddrive, or the motherboard.

Also, I did try www.asus.com.... and their support and download sections aren't working for me.

Yes, I do have a pre SP1 xp disc. What kinda tools from Seagate are you talking about?

Hey thanks alot for the link. I appologize if it was that big of an ordeal to get it for me. I have a question though.

What all do I copy to the floppy disc? I tried copying it all, but it wouldn't all fit.

Copy the root files to a floppy... Not the directories.

you sure you can handle this? It's not something you want to mess up.

Well I'm not a computer genious, but I did build my own computer... and install the harddrive when I got it. I know you have to have the drivers on a floppy... I just have a bad memory and couldn't figure out where to get them. Thanks for helping, I'll try just the root files.

EDIT: Well I tried it, and pressed F6... then s... and it had an error. It says that one of the files... I think Si3112r.sys... had some sort of error.

So now I'm going to try a different floppy in case that one was screwed up somehow.
