and how much should I expect to pay?

If I can't purchase it online (I live in Florida), how much should I expect to pay at a shop?

Also, is it a decent gun for a first time owner. i have fired guns and a lot of my friends have multiple pistols that I use when I'm at the range. I was interested in the subcompact model and the range manager let me use his, I loved the feel of it.

Top glock..probably a littler under $500. Fuck the glock night sights and get Trijicon or meprolights. And no, I wouldn't get it as a first gun. Get a g19 or g17 instead

I agree, I bought a subcompact as my first gun, then I turned around and sold it for a g19. The G19 is way more comfortable to shoot. as to where to get it online, I guess you can try http://www.galleryofguns.com I've bought from there, but there prices aren't a ton better than the local gunshop after fees/shipping

I've shot both and prefer the subcompact size as I plan on carrying it..

I get better control with the 19 too over the 26. You might want to check out the Springfield XD Subcompact 3", more safeties & about $100 cheaper.

If you want a fuller grip, just use Glock 19 mags in the Glock 26, and get the grip extenders for them so they fit right. But the Glock 26 is plenty comfortable to shoot with or without a longer magazine, or a pinky extension.

I actually didn't like the feel without the pinky extension, but with it..it felt like the gun was molded from my hand..

NEVER rely on any safety other than the one between your ears.

    thx.

i was looking at that XD online, looks pretty sweet..i was holding one at the shop and it didnt seem as comfortable as the g26 did, but for the money..i think i can sacrifice a little bit of comfort, since it'd just be a carry pistol..i'm looking into something else for range fun

word...a gun with all the safeties in the world is only as safe as the person handling it

If you like the Glock, get the Glock. You'll be happier in the long run.

oh, and to those who think I may just be dissing the XD, I'm not (well, I am but...) I'm just saying buy what you like so you don't have to sell something you don't in order to buy what you want later.

    "Just a carry pistol"???

I'll stop short of calling you an idiot but I want you to think about what you are saying.

This is the one gun that needs to work EVERY TIME because you are trusting your life to it. You'd rather save a little money and have less comfort on the one gun you shouldn't ever compromise on. Think about what you are buying this gun for. It's not to just carry around. It's not to look cool. It's to SAVE YOUR LIFE.

Why do you want to order a gun online? Why not just drive to the store and walk out with what ever you want?

actually comfort not only effects how a gun feels in your hand, but also effects accuracy and reliability. If you can't grip the pistol properly, you risk limpwristing which causes FTE/FTFs and also effects your aim. Out of all the guns you own, you want your carry gun to be 100%
What you need to do is to go rent guns and try them at the range before you lay any money on the counter to buy one. Find the one that works for you the best and go with that as your carry.
