for a Romy AK build? It looks like tapco is basically the only company that makes US parts for them, but I am wondering where the cheapest parts are.

Also, which parts do you guys recomend replacing?

Copes used to have Tapco parts for a better price than Tapco, Military Gun Supply also used to have compliance kits pretty cheap.

Im thinking about getting all my kits and parts from dph, since they also sell flats and jigs as well.
I wanna build atleast 2 Romy kits. The second of which I wanna make an evil black rifle

I already have a kit (big +1 to copesdist.com), Im just looking for the compliance parts now.

Also, if i dont use a pistol grip (fucking CA laws), what would that change?

What do you have to do to make it CA legal? Dont you have to find a magazine that cant be detached but it can still be loaded?

I could either fix it to the gun (a small amount of scrap metal, a nut and a bolt will do that), but I am going to be doing the 'no evil feature' style build, where I dont have a pistol grip/collapsing stock/flash hider, etc.

I've had good luck with K-Var too but there prices are usually high, i only usem for harder to find parts. But the rest of the mentioned companies are pretty good, not sure if MGS is still in bussiness after there ATF incident there site was down for awhile then back up and down the other day when i was looking for something.

you get what you pay for, best mod I've ever done to any of my AK's its worth it IMO. I dont understand people bitch about a $75 trigger thats well worth it yet they have no problem putting a $400 handguard rail on there rifle just so they can mount there flashlight

well, looks like I am just going to get a Tapco FCG and a muzzle brake.

What is the difference b/w a Single hook and double hook trigger? they both have the same trigger pull and cost the same on copesdist, so what is up with them?

One has a single hook at the top the other has a double. Figure out what your receiver is set for. If it is set for a single you can cut out the notch for the second hook. You will not notice a difference with either one.
(all the 80% receivers I have seen are set for a single, most flats are set up for double)

When you look at the bottom of the receiver, look at the opening where the trigger goes. There will be a rectangle with either 1 or 2 notches coming of it pointing towards the front of the receiver. If there is 1 notch get a single (or cut a second notch) if there are 2 get a double.

Who makes the receiver you are using?

Looks like I have a single hook trigger then.

any one know how hard it is to swap out a muzzle brake on an AK? I want to use a slant brake for now, but might decide to change to a -74 eventually :dunno:
