is it easier to dismount to the front or behind yourself? i've always put the little holder things in front, so when i unrack the weight i have to step back. but a few days ago I saw one other person squatting and he was racking/unracking from behind. is it any easier this way?

i think i understand what you're talking about. i walk teh weight out backwards after i unrack it.

I have used a squat rack backwards for lunges (had the step at the entrance of the squat rack) but if I were using any "real" weight (I squat much more than I lunge) I wouldn't try it. It is too disconcerting for me to step backwards to rack the weight with a decent load.

yeah i was just wondering if racking the weight would be harder or easier. now that i think about it, it makes more sense to keep it foward

You should always rack out in front of you to be safe.

i like to be able to see where i'm taking the weight... and if i'm struggling a little it's easier to lunge it up and forward than fall ass backwards :dunno:

    :eek3:

I've always kept the holders at the back, walked out front, then walked backwards after I'm done. I don't have any intention on changing that either.
