When I was your age, we had to blow on videogames to make them work.

Shit was serious business. If blowing on it a few times didn't work you could try running your t-shirt on it. On my NES, it sometimes helped to put another cartridge on top of the main one being read, so it was being pressed down farther. Kids have it way too easy these days imo.

 to putting one cartridge on top of the other though. I used to jam so much shit in there sometimes just to get a game to work.

It's crazy how we all had the same solutions without internet or any form of communicating with each other.

turns out blowing on the games was bad for them because the water vapor in your breath made the leads oxidize:o

I remember Sonic Spinball would only work on my friend's Genesis if it was turned upside-down and a backpack was put on it to apply weight in just the right way... So many times we would get to the last level only to have it bumped and freeze up. Damn that shit sucked.

I use to run water on the teeth of the cartridges and try it off with a shirt. If that didn't work, I use to put the game in, then wiggle it around until the game wasn't blinking anymore and the beginning of the game would appear. Then press reset to have the game not flash anymore.

I don't know of anyone that use to use these tricks. My cousin and I use to always do this, even though it says to not get the games wet. Water seemed to do the trick sometimes.

Sliding the NES cartridge down so it slips off the lip into the tray thereby getting it into the sweet spot so it actually works>blowing on it.

Getting the game to play was actually harder than playing the game

Going off the how everyone knew the tricks without the internet, I could have swore my dad dragged some kid off the street to show us the trick. At least that's what my 5 or 6 year old mind processed as a memory.
