So I have been with my current girlfriend for awhile now and things are fantastic. She could be the one :noes: We have mind-blowing sex, she's supportive, intelligent, fun to be with, and all around a pretty cool chick. Is it like this for everyone who is married or in a really long-term relationship that they are extremely happy with? I mean, there is absolutely nothing that I would change about her or our relationship. A first for me; that's for sure! This is totally new ground for me and I'm hopeful that it stays like this for a long time...

awww, congrats man:) I am no relationship expert nor have been in any very long term. But I think very few relationships always remain fantastic and without any problem. They take work to stay good...

Yeah, no doubt. It's just such an amazing feeling to be with someone without any hint of pretense. In the past I've usually been- this woman is great, but...

That's awesome broski, but in a few months when she dumps your ass for another dude, you'll notice she didn't feel the same way about you ;)

I'm joking by the way... that's awesome, good luck.

    Of course it does.

First few months of any relationship (See: Few = first 6) are usually going to peachy keen and fine and dandy

Yes, this is how it feels.

Being romantic is almost a job these days what with the amount of jaded and cynical dating advice out there.

Science has shown that the joyousness and the glee lasts for a lifetime in a small minority of cases.

    So?

Be that exception if you want.

    It can last!!!!!!

I know that conventional wisdom is that the giddiness, tingles and fantastic sex all fade away after 6 months/year/2 years. But that's not inevitable!

However, it seems that it's rather rare. So treasure what you have, while it lasts.

(PS. I don't know about "working" at a relationship. But I do have one tip: Be kind to each other, even when you're fighting. I think that helps a lot)

I apologize for not putting this into my original post. It has only been two weeks, but what a fantastic two weeks.

Thanks! It is going extremely well and I feel very lucky. She really is a great catch. She is very attractive, fun to be around, laid back, we have great sex/chemistry and she is very supportive. I have been more of a lurker here, but I was feeling so happy last night that I thought I would post something positive. Sometimes, it seems like there is a ton of doom and gloom around here :p

I'm thinking about proposing soon to be honest. We are both in our thirties, well over the partying phase, and we have such a strong and healthy relationship. I've kind of always been of the mindset that after two years is a good time to propose (that seems to be the magic number among relationship experts). However, I'm thinking maybe this summer :noes:
