I never use one for any lift. I've used a belt once, and I could feel my insides moving around...cool.

When you ask easy/stupid/common sense questions, you get sarcasm in return.

When you feel you can benefit from the extra tightness and stability in your midsection to help you push bigger weights.

I don't wear it unless I'm squatting more than 375lbs or so. I used to wear it all the time, but my last physical therapist was the head strength coach for Rice University and he chastised me for using the belt too much. He was basically preaching that nobody should EVER use a belt

I've since started using it more sparingly and now I really focus on tightening my core and controlling my reps.

when you feel you "need" one in order to stablize your midsection to help control the weights.

foolish to use it on anything other than deads, squats, bench or heavy curls. Unless you have a bad back.
