    Man In Wheelchair Shoots Intruder

    POSTED: 7:54 am EDT September 10, 2007
    UPDATED: 12:08 pm EDT September 10, 2007

DETROIT -- A wheelchair-bound man shot an intruder in his home in the 8100 block of Alpine Road in Detroit Sunday night.

The man said he saw the intruder as he was getting out of the shower.

The homeowner told police he shot the man to protect his home and he feared for his life.

He said he does not feel safe anymore, so he will be moving out of his home.

Police said the intruder drove himself to the hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

    ---

How prepared would you be if someone broke in while you were in shower? I'd say about less then 25% of the time I have a weapon with me in the bathroom when I shower :o

Why does prepared always mean having a gun? Does your place have an alarm that will let you know if someone comes in the home when you're showering, or asleep, or watching a movie? Are the doors and windows secured and reinforced so they aren't easily kicked in?

well, I might not even hear it, but if I did, I would just have to take maybe 10 steps to get to my AK.

No alarm other then my dogs. Windows if I'm home and its warm some are open. Doors solid. Don't have to have a gun but something to defend yourself only usefull thing I have in the bathroom would be a straight razor, and hair spray :mamoru:

I rarely have a gun in the can when I'm showering and I really need to get an alarm :hs:

Need to throw a lighter in one of the drawers, but a good spray in the eyes then some slashing with the razor should work :o

My gun sits on my nightstand while I'm in the shower which is 10 feet or so from me. Plus I have two dogs that don't like strangers much.

Not that this is the issue, but imagine how easy it would be to conceal a handgun if you always had that chair with you.

I think I'll hang my nunchucks next to the loofas.:dunno: <----have no idea how to use them.

While it would be great to always be able to easily conceal your gun and carry around a small BOB, I'd much rather be able to use my cock and legs :o

Gun goes with me to the shower, sits right next to the shower. :dunno:

I've heard police reports in which the perp mentions sitting somewhere close to the garage to hear the hot water heater cycle before breaking and entering..

I've often though about this. I normally have about 3-4 other people roaming around my house so they would all be able to alert me if someone were to try and come in. However, when I'm home alone my Sig sits right next to the shower.

It's called a Zip-Loc bag. Put your blaster in it. Put it in your shower.

An intruder comes in your bathroom...Yellow and blue make green, motherfucker!

normally its either on the night stand right by the bathroom door or on the counter by the second sink in the bathroom (the one further from the shower), I just don't like the idea of exposing a gun to that much humidity on a daily basis.
