I just bit the bullet and did all my paperwork for the 4 day defensive handgun course of 9/11. Is it all people claim it is?

And no, I didn't spend the 2k for the course

I'm pretty sure they got sued for ripping people off. Am I thinking of a different school?

The owner had a side business of devolping plots around the school, he never did it and got sued over that.
Two of my coworkers have memberships and go 2-5 times a year. They swear buy it.

My 4 day course first timer cert was $80, hotel split was $140, plus gas and 800 rounds of .40 cal. Guess I'll find out.

It didn't seem like alot to me either, but I'm okay with it since it's harder then fuck to find ammo in CA right now anyway.

I have high hopes, guess we'll see in a few months.

Do you know how time share marketing works?

    That's front sight.

I heard that they don't lay it on too thick though, so just politely decline memberships and time share certificates, etc.

It's pretty nigh impossible to run a BAD firearms training course as long as safety is observed. Shit, i've been to "classes" put on by Arfcom members, and in the end, shooting at targets on a firing line in different scenarios and positions is always going to be the same, and you're bound to learn something eventually from structured practice.

Front sight does have some impressive facilities, gotta give em that.

I haven't been to one of their courses. But sounds like you got a decent deal so it's not bad.

I have worked with and trained past graduates of their courses. They all seem to have some of the fundamentals down, but not all. I haven't heard of them teaching anything dangerous. So go in with an open mind and try to learn anything and everything.

I have heard the instruction and the cadre are good but the sales people and the patriarch, I mean, proprietor, are stupid as fuck.

If I got a blue certificate I'd go take their five day carbine just to see what the fuck was up.

I would say that you should get on the standby list for my Todd Green course I'm organizing for February 2010 and it'd probably be better. Gonna shoot more and in only two days too.

I have a couple buddies who are members.
The training seems decent, they've showed me a few things and my one buddy has improved a lot.
But he also fell vitim to the hard sell, and bought an overpriced (IMHO) membership. Something on the order of $4k and still can only do rifle 1-2 and the handgun course IIRC. Oh and I think the knife fighting was included in that. But not the long range or advanced classes stuff.

I don't know, they throw around a lot of free coupons. I'm supposed to go with the crew this November.

I'd say if you not easily talked into shit, check it out. Otherwise you may find your bank account empty upon return.
