I've had my laptop for over a year now and burned a lot movies with it, and my dvd burner will still burn files to cd's but it won't burn files to a dvd anymore. I setup a movie to burn onto a dvd and the program (Nero) will go through all the steps like it's burning the movie, but then when it done the DVD is still blank. I've tried different programs, dunno what wrong with it, any suggestions?:sadwavey:

That's a tricky one. Maybe you could try uninstalling and reinstalling Nero. :dunno:

You could try to go into system properties and delete the dvd burner.

When you reboot, it will reinstall it. That could possible fix it.

Also, you could try a firmware update from the manufacturer.

Because the DVD writer is broken. My guess.

thats what i was going to say
    or bad dvd media
or maybe your not outputting the movie to the drive, i had a friend having a similar problem, he kept output the movie to the image writer instead of the actual drive

you should try running the nero diagnostics on the drive also

keep in mind that external burners are pretty cheap now
