Looking to pick up a 22lr plinker sometime this month. I saw that Sig made one but after doing some preliminary research there are lots of mixed opinions.

    Anyone here own one?

I've got 2. One threaded barrel, one not. The one w/out the threaded barrel took a lot more breaking in to get it working right (no more failure to feed / eject) but then it was great, the newer one with the threaded barrel worked pretty good right out of the box.

My p22 was less picky about ammo, but the mosquito feels a lot nicer in my hands. If something happened to my mosquitos, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Get a Ruger MKIII and save yourself a lot of issues.

If you're looking for a .22 auto with similar ergonomics to a service pistol, the CZ Kadet might be worth checking out. The Sig I handled felt good in the hand but the zinc slide bothered me. Considering the cost of the Sig, it just doesn't make sense to go the cheap route on the build.

Lots of problems. Better off with a P22, seriously.

    No seriously.

    CZ Kadet
    Ruger MkI-III
    Browning Buckmark

There are also .22 conversions available for Glocks and 1911s if you have one which is a good way to practice with cheaper ammo.

The Ruger and the Browning both have solid reputations. Only complaint I have ever heard about the Ruger is that stripping one to clean it can be a frustrating experience. The Buckmark I shot had some feeding problems but in fairness it was a range rental and had likely not been cleaned since the Reagan administration.
